Valley of Fire State Park is a breathtaking wonderland and perfect for an amazing hike across all levels of fitness! Over 150 million years of fault, uplifting, and erosion has shaped this bold-colored landscape, turning this landscape from sand dunes to the beautiful natural scenery we have today.

The Valley of Fire gets its name from the reddish-pink sandstone formations that define its limits. These spectacular sandstone rock formations formed from great shifting sand dunes during the age of dinosaurs. As the centerpiece of the park’s attractions, these geologic features sometimes seem to be on fire when reflecting the ray of the setting sun. Gaze across natural landscapes as the many shades of light bring out the Rainbow Vista in the park.

The red sandstone formations bring out an adventurous spirit making this hike scale for all levels of fun from Rock climbing & rock scrambling to a Friendly hike. This state park features many amazing views to discover from rock art (ancient petroglyphs) dating back 3,000 years to colorful natural rock formations that will have you pulling out your camera at every stop.

Your first journey is White Dome Loop, a 1.1-mile moderate hike, with a beautiful slot canyon and amazing rock formations. From there we will move on to Mouses Tank Canyon, a 1/2 mile easy hike, with many ancient Native American petroglyphs and more colorful rock formations..

Your third stop is the Visitor’s Center where you may enjoy the many geological and wildlife exhibits, plus a great gift shop! For an extra fee, we will provide lunch. After the Visitor’s Center, you’ll make a few short stops for photos, including Atlatl Rock and Seven Sisters, and then we will head back to your hotel.

River Dogz made it real easy to kayak the Colorado River. We reserved kayaks the afternoon before. We arrived early and were on our way in a couple minutes. This allowed us to have the Emerald Cave to ourselves.

If you’re thinking about doing a tour to Emerald Cave—just do it. Seriously, it was one of the highlights of our trip.We had Anthony as our guide, and he absolutely made the experience unforgettable. From the very beginning, he brought such great energy—super funny, easygoing, and incredibly knowledgeable. He kept the whole group entertained the entire time while still making sure everyone felt safe and comfortable. The tour itself was stunning. Paddling out to Emerald Cave and seeing that unreal green glow reflecting in the water was just incredible. You can tell Anthony really cares about giving people a great experience—he took his time, shared cool facts, and made sure we could fully enjoy the moment instead of rushing through it.And what really made it extra special: after the tour, he didn’t just call it a day. He actually took us to a nearby park so we could see Big Horn sheep up close. That was such an unexpected bonus and honestly just showed how much he goes above and beyond for his guests. All in all, an amazing experience from start to finish. Great vibes, lots of laughs, beautiful scenery, and a guide who genuinely loves what he does. Couldn’t recommend it more—thanks again, Anthony! 🔥
